Hello everyone, and welcome to the round 13 edition of the highly-acclaimed, ever-popular and always entertaining Rick’s Footy Blog.
How were we all after that thriller against the Blues last week? Another stressful match, I must say. But well done to the boys for getting on top of Carlton and sealing another win for ol’ West Coast. Honourable mentions go to Nic Naitanui for his blinder of a game, and Scott Selwood for his excellent work on Chris Judd. Young Scott kept the dual Brownlow Medallist to just 12 disposals, a fantastic effort.
Now this weekend is a going to be a blockbuster against Collingwood. The team have travelled over to Melbournetown to take on the Magpies at the mighty MCG. No pressure fellas, but this is a freaking massive game.
So let’s take a look at the facts.
We’ve got Adam Selwood and Will Schofield out, which is a bit upsetting. But Mr Beau Waters returns to the side this week, which is very exciting news. And defender Mitch Brown is coming in to replace Schofield - and playing in the side against his bro, Nathan. How adorable!
But let’s get serious. To say the Pies are in form would be a bigger understatement than saying I have fantastic guns. Because my guns are beyond fantastic. The Pies have won their last eight games, including victories against top sides eight Geelong, Essendon and Adelaide. And this weekend they’re going to be on home turf.
I’m gonna get real, it’s going to be a challenge. But I have faith in our boys. And this weekend marks Quinten Lynch’s 200th game - well done Lynchy! I think the boys will be keen to make this milestone one to remember for the big Q-Stick. So let’s put up one heck of a fight against the Pies, and go Eagles!
Love, Rick.
