West Coast will unleash one of its newest recruits during Saturday’s critical clash with Port Adelaide at Metricon Stadium.
Livewire small forward Jamaine Jones will make his debut in blue and gold after arriving at Eagles HQ in March.
The 21-year-old was welcomed into West Coast’s nest as a Supplementary Selection Period recruit following several strong performances on the training track during the club’s pre-season summer slog.
Jones was given a shot to audition for a spot on the Eagles’ list after showing plenty of promise during his two seasons at Geelong, where he played seven senior games in 2018.
The Broken Hill product has been a standout in the club’s recent scrimmage fixtures against Gold Coast and Brisbane, amassing plenty of possessions and goals.
He be joined in the starting 22 by mobile ruckman Tom Hickey, premiership backman Tom Cole and four-time all-Australian defender Jeremy McGovern.
McGovern, who missed the club’s round three defeat due to suspension, sent a scare through the West Coast camp after rolling his ankle during the Eagles’ practice match hitout against the Lions.
But the league’s intercept marking king has bounced back from the tweak and is ready to play his role to stop the Power’s red-hot forward line, who are currently ranked second in the competition for points scored.
The aforementioned quartet comes into the side at the expense of Jack Petruccelle, Oscar Allen, Josh Rotham and Will Schofield, who have been omitted from the team.
Petrucelle, Schofield and Rotham will be on standby for the round four fixture as emergencies alongside athletic forward Jake Waterman.
West Coast will be looking to register their first win from their Queensland hub when they lock horns with Port Adelaide.
Western Australian fans will be able to catch all the action live on Fox Footy, Kayo and the official AFL app from 11.30am WST.
Channel 7 will provide a delayed free-to-air broadcast of the match at 2pm WST.
