As a West Coast Eagles best-and-fairest winner, Norm Smith medallist and AFL Hall of Fame inductee, Dean Kemp has a wealth of knowledge for budding young footballers.

The former West Coast midfielder has just wrapped up his second Dean Kemp Football and Leadership Program, a clinic run for young students to learn tip and tricks from the footy legend himself.

Following on from the success of the inaugural program in Bunbury last year, Dean returned to his roots in Kalgoorlie to provide a fantastic ‘football experience’ for 140 local kids.

In addition to expert tuition in the usual skills of kicking, marking, handball, evasion and checking, participants were also offered guidance in matters concerning leadership, nutrition, preparation and game sense.

Kemp also called on Eagles dual-premiership player Chris Waterman to bring his higher level game and coaching skills to the event.

But the highlight for many of the participants was the presence of West Coast Eagles players Josh Kennedy and Brad Dick. In addition to signing a multitude of autographs, the Eagles pair added their expertise and insights to many of the Sunday activities.

Young Goldfields footballers walked away with some autographed items, an insight into being an AFL player and, more importantly, smiles on their faces from being able to meet some of their footballing heroes.
