Rick's Blog: Round One, 2014
I'm back! Another year is here and I can't wait for tomorrow!
Well what an off-season it has been, the boys have certainly been putting in the hard yards, I’ve been making sure of that. Simmo has them up and about and it’s looking like a good season in 2014, plenty of improvement on the cards.
My pre-season has been somewhat more relaxed, I’ve been spending the most of my time visiting schools with our community team; it’s great to get out and about to meet so many West Coast fans and rock their school.
Game day tomorrow!
Now these pesky Doggies beat us last time out, so the boys are going to have to be wary. In saying that we have won the previous four matches before then, so we do have a good record against them, although it’ll mean nothing come Sunday.
The game’s definitely going to be won in the middle, the Doggies are missing their captain Ryan Griffen, but still have one of the best midfield’s in the competition. They are a fantastic clearance team, led by Tom Liberatore, and along with Cooney, Boyd and co. they’re going to be hard to stop.
But I know our boys are up to it!
Our engine room has been on fire this pre-season, Shuey, Maten, Priddis, Selwood, Rosa, Gaff and the rest of the boys having been running sides rabid over the summer and look in for a big season.
Our forward line has been going beautifully, with Lecras, Darling, Kennedy, Cripps all playing well and kicking plenty of goals. So things are looking up!
Who can forget JK’s big haul of 10 snags against the Doggies a few years ago? How good was that! Hopefully he can re-produce that form and we can have a good win.
I must pass on my best wishes to Simmo and his coaching staff for a great season ahead, all the very best for 2014.
Really looking forward to seeing you all at the game, our first chance to stamp our home ground advantage, and for us all to witness the start of a new era at West Coast!
Go Eagles!
Love Rick.
