The West Coast Eagles team that lines up against Brisbane will take on a slightly different look this weekend.
In honour of the club’s annual Dig Deep Day fundraiser for Cancer Council WA, the West Coast Eagles have launched a special edition Dig Deep guernsey, which the team will proudly play in on Sunday afternoon.
In an effort to reflect Cancer Council WA’s ‘colour of hope’, yellow, the guernseys feature a yellow strip down the right hand side, yellow trimming around the neck and arms, and also include the Cancer Council WA logo beneath the ‘Dig Deep’ slogan across the front.
The club’s Cancer Council WA ambassador Beau Waters says he hopes the special edition Dig Deep jumper will aid in creating more awareness about Cancer Council WA and the invaluable work they do.
“Cancer Council WA has been an official charity partner of the club for more than eight years now,” the vice-captain said.
“Every year we dedicate a home match to Cancer Council WA, which has been dubbed Dig Deep Day, and this has become the club’s biggest fundraising initiative.”
After Sunday’s match, each player’s guernsey will be signed and donated to Cancer Council WA for an online auction, with all funds raised going to cancer research.
Thanks to campaign sponsor Caltex, the West Coast Eagles have been able to produce these special edition guernseys to raise funds for cancer research.
Fans can visit the West Coast Eagles website on Sunday following the final siren to start bidding on the Dig Deep guernseys.
“Unfortunately, cancer is a disease that touches almost every one of us in some way - whether it be our friends, family members or ourselves,” Waters adds.
“Helping find a cure for our nation’s biggest killer is something that’s very important to the club.”
In an effort to raise added funds for cancer research, the club has also produced Dig Deep wristbands which fans can purchase for $5 at Caltex outlets, the West Coast Eagles Team Store and around the ground at Sunday's match. All money raised from wristband sales will go straight to Cancer Council WA.
In addition, the goal umpires at Sunday’s match will be waving yellow flags in honour of Dig Deep Day.
