Dale Miller (The West Australian)- Adam you really took it to them for three and a half quarters really, are you still happy with the endeavor tonight?

"Mixed emotions. I thought we did throw everything at them but it wasn't good enough in the end, was it. So we're disappointed in the loss but I think we'll take some confidence out of the game. We were dealt a bit of adversity tonight, but when the game was up for grabs we didn't take our opportunities. So we're disappointed but we're also positive about where we're at."

Dale Miller (The West Australian)- Scotty (Lycett) had some good numbers and battled on pretty well in the absence of the two other boys, did you think he did an okay job?

"Really, really, really proud of Scotty. It wasn't until late last night that we had to go to that, and Cal Sinclair didn't come up either. It wasn't ideal but I thought for the most part he battled really well. He would've had 106 contests...he's played 90 minutes at East Perth. So Gov helped out a little bit when he could, until he went down, it just looked like he ran out of steam late Scotty. We lost the clearances by 14 or 15, I thought in the end they probably kicked six goals to our three from stoppages."

Braden Quartermaine (The Sunday Times)- What happened with McGovern?

"We won't know, but it looks like he's hurt his hamstring. The same one he hurt a few weeks ago, so not quite sure where it's at, but it looks like he's hurt it again."

Braden Quartermaine (The Sunday Times)- Where are you at with your ruckmen for next week?

"We won't worry about next week until tomorrow. Hopefully we get Nic available depending on what his circumstances are and what he needs to go through to get right. We'll back away and let him deal with his family at the moment."

Braden Quartermaine (The Sunday Times)- Is Nic overseas at the moment?

"He'll be heading back tonight."

Alex Malcolm (afl.com.au)- Have you had a conversation with him? Is he ok?

"Look he's obviously hurting and our heart goes out to him. Family comes first in all situations and we'll provide any support we can. We're his family here."

Alex Malcolm (afl.com.au)- How did the guys go? How did you go when the news came through?

"We're all in a little bit of shock to be honest. It's a personal matter and we're there for Nic and I'm sure you guys will respect his privacy as well."

Alex Malcolm (afl.com.au)- What happened with Cal (Sinclair)?

"He just didn't come up from that knock he had on his knee last week in that first quarter. He couldn't stretch his leg properly and couldn't sprint, so we just couldn't play him."

Braden Quartermaine (The Sunday Times)- Adam just on the footy side with Nic, he obviously won't have his normal preparation, but are you of the mind even without that he's so important he could just come straight back in?

"I don't think we should be talking about Nic. Let's just let Nic be for a while and we'll worry about that during the week."

Dale Miller (The West Australian)- Just on the McGovern recurring injury...right or wrong call letting him play today?

"Well it doesn't look like a good call now does it? Look the medico's ticked him off; he was pushing for last week. There's always risk of re-doing your hamstring, hopefully it's just a big cramp. But let’s assume it's not, we'll back in our medico's, it didn't work out this week. We did have to play him in a different position, which I questioned myself about how we handled that. But that's footy, sometimes you get it wrong and unfortunately this one is."

Dale Miller (The West Australian)- It looks like Lecca might be in trouble with a high bump as well...if he goes out how do you restructure around him?

"I didn't see it so we'll wait until Monday."

Braden Quartermaine (The Sunday Times)- Can you confirm he was reported?

"No I can't, I couldn't tell you."

Alex Malcolm (afl.com.au)- You mentioned you lost the clearances, you lost the contested battle and the tackles quite significantly...how does that sit with you?

"It doesn't sit well, the tackle count would have been pretty high I'm assuming. We probably test the tackle a little bit more than Hawthorn, they just surge it a bit more and get it on, so I'm assuming they would've had greater numbers. But it felt like it was a pretty high intensity, high pressure game, which I'm really excited about. For our players to go through a game like that, it's new for us to be in such a pressure game. We're disappointed we didn't play out the full four quarters, but we'll take a lot from this. A lot of it will be positive."

Justin Chadwick (AAP)- What are some of the positives you can take out of the game?

"I think some of our players realise that they can stand up against good sides. There were different conditions tonight; we haven't performed too well in the wet in the past. I thought for the most part we dug in, there's still belief there. Look we're fighting for top-two at the moment, you wouldn't have thought that'd be the case at the start of the year so we're up and about, we're really excited. We're still aiming to finish as high as we can obviously, so what will be, will be. But tonight we got beaten by a better side."

Braden Quartermaine (The Sunday Times)- Adam it looked like a heartbreaking night in some ways with the result and some bad luck with some issues with some players...what sort of frame of mind is the club in to attack a Derby after tonight?

"Positive, like I just said. We've been up for a long time; we lost a game against the premiers. I think they had 18 premiership players from last year tonight playing, so to be right up there until half-way through the last, I think we hit the front with 10 minutes to go. But we weren't good enough, and next week's going to be just as tough. So to even be spoken about in the same breath now is a good thing for us, we've come from a fair way back like I said, but we're excited still."

Braden Quartermaine (The Sunday Times)- I think it's six Derby losses in a row, is it time to get one?

"Thanks for reminding me, beautiful."

Dale Miller (The West Australian)- Were you upbeat with the players after the game? Did you talk about learning experiences and some of those factors?

"I was balanced. Lots of coaches say 'It's never as good as it seems and it's never as bad'. Exactly what I've said to you guys is what I've said to the players. Be disappointed, learn from it and understand our best is still pretty good, but we've got to do it all night. There were some critical...one contest here or one contest there that you turn the ball over or you don't get it done and they make you pay. We missed some easy goals but I thought Hawthorn missed some easy ones as well."

Dale Miller (The West Australian)- Is Jack Darling okay after he looked like he may have hurt himself?

"I think he just got winded in that last play."
