West Coast swoop on Eagles Cup presentations
The entire Eagles squad was out in force presenting the 2014 Eagles Cup winners trophies
Eagles Cup, which is a joint initiative between the West Coast Eagles, BHP Billiton and the West Australian Football Commission, is WA’s premier primary inter-school competition for years five to seven students.
More than 30 primary schools across metropolitan WA enjoyed a visit from Eagles stars, who dropped in on the students to congratulate them for taking part in the competition, participate in question and answer sessions, sign autographs and pose for photos.
Dean Cox was the guest of honour at Aranmore Catholic Primary School, and Cox said it was terrific to see so many kids involved in the program.
“It was super to see the enthusiasm the kids show for the Eagles Cup,” he said.
“It’s is a great way for kids to get involved in footy.
“Not only is it a great way to stay active and a part of a great program, but sport is one of the best ways to make friends, keep fit and healthy, and learn how to be part of a team.
“The main thing about the competition is team work and helping each other; it’s not just about who are the best at footy.”
Thanks to the West Coast Eagles' Principal Community Partner BHP Billiton, the Eagles Cup competition has become more popular every year, with more than 12,000 primary school students competing in 2014.
