Andrew Gaff says there’s no danger of complacency for the team as they prepare to face the Gold Coast on Saturday night.
West Coast is flying after three consecutive wins and is sitting in second position on the ladder having defeated the highly-fancied Port at Adelaide Oval last weekend.
But Gaff said that the important victory against the Power would mean nothing if the team couldn’t produce the same standard of football at Domain Stadium this Saturday.
“It’s our biggest game for the year,” Gaff told 6PR on Wednesday night.
“We’ve talked about it and Sunday means nothing if we don’t back it up this weekend.
“We know Gold Coast, although they’ve been under the pump, they have some quality players.
"Guys like Bennell, Prestia, Lynch, when they’re playing well they’re very hard to beat.
“We’re under no illusions that we need to play very well and to the standard we did on Sunday night.”
Having battled with injury early in the season, West Coast is beginning to see numbers return to the squad with Matt Rosa and Xavier Ellis likely to be available for selection this weekend.
Gaff said the inclusion of returning senior players would bolster the team and provide added depth as the season progresses.
“It’s just up to the coaches and what they want to do with those two,” Gaff said.
“They’re definitely an integral part of our team and the more we get guys like those two back, plus Scotty Selwood and Jack Darling, we’ll be tough to beat if we’re playing as well as we have been over the past few weeks.”
