David Wirrpanda Foundation mentor Kirby Bentley has been nominated for a 2011 Deadly Award.

Awarded annually, the Deadlys recognise the contribution of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders to their community and to Australian society, showcasing outstanding achievements, while providing identifiable national and local role models to inspire all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, and particularly our young people.

Assisting with the David Wirrpanda Foundation’s Dare to Dream program, Kirby helps Indigenous young women to build self-esteem and reach their full potential, inspiring them to follow their dreams.

When she’s not working as a mentor, Kirby is tearing up the football field, recently winning the Debbie Lee Medal as the fairest and best player in Australian women’s football, following the AFL National Women’s Championships.

Kirby was named the player of the championships thanks to an outstanding tournament, during which she gained maximum votes in all games.
