A stunning 15 West Coast-listed players will line up for East Perth in the 2016 WAFL season opener tomorrow at Medibank Stadium.

New Eagles’ recruits Jack Redden and Jonathan Giles will take the field for the Royals against Claremont, as will draftees Luke Partington and Tom Cole.

The new Eagles will be joined by Mark Hutchings, Fraser McInnes, Patrick McGinnity, Tom Lamb, Kane Lucas, Malcolm Karpany, Brant Colledge, Paddy Brophy, Corey Adamson, Tom Barrass and Dom Sheed in the club’s revered blue and black guernseys.

Tomorrow’s match will be Sheed’s first hit-out since undergoing minor surgery to clean out his left knee during the off-season.

West Coast senior coach Adam Simpson was hopeful Sheed would be available for one of the club’s NAB Challenge matches, but his slower than anticipated recovery stalled those plans.

Sheed won’t be West Coast’s only player in the spotlight tomorrow, with several players staking their claim for selection to play round one against Brisbane on March 27.

Redden, McGinnity and Hutchings’ performances will likely be focal points in light of injuries to some midfielders throughout the pre-season.

Chris Masten suffered an ankle injury during an intra-club match less than a month ago and utility Sharrod Wellingham copped a knock to the knee at training recently.

Simpson has also indicated his reluctance to select bidders who have played less than two pre-season games, which might foil Sheed’s round one aspirations.

Tomorrow’s match might also be Giles’ last opportunity to audition for West Coast’s coveted second ruck position.

The 201cm former Bomber was a late exclusion from last Sunday’s NAB 3 match against Essendon.

The Royals will do battle with the Tigers from 2.15pm tomorrow.
