The West Coast Eagles Football Club would like to thank the 6,000-plus fans who braved sweltering temperatures to attend the 2016 Fan Fair at Kitchener Park on Sunday.

Despite the mercury hitting 38 degrees, a large crowd came out to enjoy the family-friendly event prior to the club’s NAB 3 match against Essendon.

The event kicked off with a rousing rendition of the West Coast Eagles' team song performed by WA Brass before Fan Fair host Karl Langdon introduced some West Coast players not partaking in the match.

Children relished an opportunity to meet Auzzie the Eagle and her best friend Micro. Mark Hutchings and Fraser McInnes also stopped by to visit the native animals and pose for photos with enthusiastic fans.

Animals took centre stage at the event, which featured a dingo, koala and snakes, as well as the ever-cheeky Rick the Rock.

With the club gearing up to celebrate its 30th year it was only fitting that fans were treated to a memorabilia display showcasing historic West Coast jumpers, awards and, of course, premiership cups.

Those keen to touch success joined Sharrod Wellingham in a photo booth for a picture with the 2006 Premiership Cup to mark the 10th anniversary of the club claiming the coveted silverware.

With football being the talk of the day, the club dusted off its inflatable obstacle course and kicking booths, which allowed fans to test their foot speed, handball skills and agility.

Five lucky youngsters were also invited on stage to compete against Chris Masten in a handball competition. The lucky winner took home a football signed by the 2016 Eagles squad while the runners up scored a team store voucher.

Those attending the game made the most of their opportunity to deck themselves out in team colours at the Cheer Zone (located at Gate 10’s Fan Zone during the season) by getting their face painted for free and buying temporary West Coast tattoos.

Our loyal cheer squad assisted in running a sausage sizzle to raise funds for the Lord Mayor’s Distress Relief Fund and Bankwest volunteers also took donations from the club’s charitable fans throughout the event.

With a plethora of sponsors on hand to celebrate Fan Fair, including 96fm, Coke, Masters, ECU, HBF Health, SGIO, Infinite Energy, Crown and Toyota, there was no shortage of activities to keep fans busy on the hot Sunday afternoon.

After a brief wrap up from Karl, acoustic duo The Lights entertained the fans before they filtered into Domain Stadium to witness an awe-inspiring performance by the Eagles.
