Like a lot of people, Jarrod Cameron probably didn’t expect his opportunity at the top level to come so soon after landing at the Eagles in the 2018 NAB AFL Draft. With Willie Rioli on the sidelines due to suspension, Cameron was called into the starting 22 for the Eagles’ Thursday night clash with the Bombers. Cameron, hardly overawed by the occasion, slotted two goals on debut and booted back-to-bag bags of four majors in rounds 16 and 17. It was a solid rookie season for the club’s first Naitanui Academy graduate, who will no doubt be looking for more senior opportunities in 2020.

Standout performance: Mr efficient

Brimming with confidence following a four-goal haul the week prior, Cameron was a constant threat during West Coast’s round 17 clash with Collingwood at Optus Stadium. His first four kicks of the game resulted in goals, but he was also defensively sound in a tight, contested game. The 19-year-old laid an equal personal best seven tackles against the club’s 2018 grand final opponents. He finished the fixture with a season high 13 disposals and six score involvements.
