Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs Hon Julie Bishop MP was announced as the West Coast Eagles No.1 ticketholder at the club’s season launch in March but she was formally presented as such in the chairman’s function ahead of the Carlton Draught Derby.

Ms Bishop assumes the mantle from Formula 1 ace Daniel Ricciardo. She will hold the coveted position for the next two seasons.

She was presented with the traditional framed No.1 ticketholder’s guernsey by club chairman Russell Gibbs and thereafter spent a few minutes preparing for her official match day duty – the toss of the coin.

Ms Bishop did the right thing as Shannon Hurn won the toss and the Eagles started the night on a blistering note, kicking seven goals in the first term to set up an important victory.

Ms Bishop is the 13th No.1 ticketholder in club history, building on a tradition that began in 1993 when Denis McInerney was the inaugural recipient.
