WEST Coast has produced a scorching display in the Geraldton heat, the Eagles thrashing Fremantle by 55 points in their JLT Community Series clash on Saturday.
The hard-running Eagles had 124 more possessions than the Dockers in the first half, and eventually ran out 0.16.11 (107) to 0.8.4 (52) victors for their opening win of the pre-season.
Fremantle, in their first hit-out for the season, took little from the match besides a smooth return from Nat Fyfe, who took a trademark high-flying mark in the third term while showing his class in the midfield.
Former Hawthorn champion Sam Mitchell, in his first game with the Eagles, made an immediate impression with 16 first-half touches as West Coast's onball brigade ran rampant. Josh Kennedy capitalised on that dominance with five goals.
More to come.
