Livewire West Coast Eagles forward Willie Rioli is still a chance to line up against Sydney in round one despite suffering an ankle injury during last Sunday’s JLT Community Series clash with Fremantle.

Rioli left the field in the 24^th minute of the first quarter of the pre-season fixture and did not return after appearing to get his left foot stuck in the turf at Joondalup’s HBF Arena.

General manager of football Craig Vozzo said it was only a minor injury.

“Willie has a lateral ankle sprain, but he’s recovering quite well,” Vozzo said.

“We are still targeting round one, but it will depend on how he continues to progress through his rehabilitation.”
