Decorated West Coast Eagles defender Jeremy McGovern added the missing piece to his vast array of accolades when he tonight won the John Worsfold Medal as the Club Champion.

The 2018 premiership player, five-time all-Australian and 2017 runner-up in the club’s Best and Fairest broke through to win the Eagles' highest individual plaudit with 184 votes – seven clear of two-time winner Elliot Yeo.

McGovern had a stellar season and claimed the award despite missing the final game of the season against Geelong after having thumb surgery.

He played just 19 games for the season to edge out Yeo who was another star who returned to his best this season.

The Club Champion in 2017 and 2018, and runner-up in 2019, Yeo rediscovered his power and speed and was important in a season when the club made incremental steps forward.

Rounding out the top three was forward Jake Waterman, one of the feel-good stories of the season with a breakout year that also saw him win the leading goalkicker award.

After serious health concerns a little over 12 months ago, the 26-year-old fought back to full fitness and kicked 53 goals.

Such was the rise of Waterman this season that he earned All-Australian selection and polled 155 votes in the Club Champion award, ahead of co-captain Liam Duggan (141) and emerging defender Brady Hough (136).

The coveted Chris Mainwaring Medal for best clubman was won by Duggan while the award for Best Emerging Talent went to Harley Reid.

McGovern also received the Eagles in the Community Award for an impressive portfolio of work, including the outstanding impact with First Nations People under a foundation bearing his name.
