West Coast coach Daisy Pearce has expressed her pride in the playing group after they delivered on a ‘business trip’ mentality with a second-straight away win over Collingwood on Tuesday night.

Setting themselves for two matches in Melbourne during a week on the road, the Eagles were able to overcome the Bulldogs and Pies to achieve back-to-back victories for the first time in the team’s history.

The third win under Pearce from four games also ensured West Coast has set a new mark for its best season, with seven matches still to play.

“We set it up and called it a business trip, come over here and enjoy connecting and spending time together with the unique opportunity it presented,” Pearce said.

“But the biggest thing we were coming to do was go after two wins. For them to deliver on that, we’re really proud of them.”

The Eagles currently sit third on the ladder following the opening match of week four, and face a short break before hosting reigning premier Brisbane on Sunday at Mineral Resources Park.

“I think we were pretty good from an injury point-of-view coming through tonight, which is positive, and then like off the back of the Bulldogs game just prioritise recovery,” Pearce said.

“Winning is hard to do so we’ll let them enjoy their win.

“We put it on the table that it would be the first time we’ve won two-in-a-row and three in a season – we leant into that and wanted to go after it, so we’re proud of them and we’ll let them celebrate it.

“But really quickly our attention will turn to getting home, recovering, we’ll get one training session in on Friday and start preparing ourselves for another big test against the Lions.”
