The Club works closely with the Vic Park Raiders throughout the year as part of our ongoing commitment to supporting the local community within the Town of Victoria Park.

The young female footballers participated in an exhibition match in front of their friends and family, with plenty of laughter and smiles mixed in with some highly skilled and competitive play from the youngsters.

Community and Game Development Officer Jackson Nelson praised the girls for giving it their all in front of some of their AFLW idols who came out to watch prior to their game.

“It was fantastic having a couple of the girls teams from our local friends at the Vic Park Raiders down playing in the curtain raiser. The girls looked like they had fun and everyone was super enthusiastic and involved throughout the game, so it was a really awesome initiative in the end,” he said.

“It’s great that we as a Club can provide opportunities like this to showcase young female footballers on the big stage. Some of these local girls could be playing on this ground in the AFLW one day, so any support we can give to foster their passion and love of the game is worthwhile.”

The Club’s connection to the Town of Victoria Park stems from our Community Benefits Strategy (CBS) and the active and continuous commitment to providing engagement opportunities such as this one within the community.

“As part of our CBS within the Town of Victoria Park we look to connect with local sporting clubs and the Vic Park Raiders have been one of those clubs that’s been really active with us," Nelson said.

“Vic Park Raiders President Todd Beaton has been great to work with in regards to getting the girls involved in football as well as giving them exposure to our AFLW program.

“We’ve looked to get them engaged with the Club in various ways throughout the year; whether it’s a curtain raiser, tours of Eagles HQ or donation items, we’ve built a strong connection with them over the past few years and will look to continue this into the future.”

The West Coast Eagles are proud of our partnership with the Town of Victoria Park and will continue to actively provide football opportunities for young people within the local community and beyond.
