Respected veteran Andrew Gaff’s selection for his penultimate senior match is the only change the West Coast Eagles have made for Saturday’s clash with North Melbourne in Hobart.
The Eagles match committee has opted for more run by adding Gaff, a 278-game stalwart, at the expense of key defender Harry Edwards who is in concussion protocols.
In selecting Gaff they have literally lived up to the mantra of adding some run because no man has covered more ground for the club than the #4 selection from the 2010 draft.
While Gaff comes into the team another key defender Tom Barrass was not given medical clearance to play. Unable to complete the main training session on Wednesday he could not be considered.
Pacy forward-midfielder Jack Petruccelle has completed a term of suspension and was named on the emergency list with young forwards Archer Reid and Jack Hutchinson, who has also completed a one-match ban.
The Eagles will be shooting for consecutive victories for the first time since rounds 18 and 19 in 2021 when they toppled Adelaide and St Kilda.
West Coast has won four games this season and in comparison the Kangaroos have won three games and sit one rung below the Eagles on the ladder in 17th place.
