East Perth hosted the WAFL Eagles at Leederville Oval on Sunday, the home side recording a dominant 18.7 (115) v 6.5 (41) victory in round six.
It was beautiful conditions for the matchup, with WAFL fans flocking to the venue to get their footy fix.
East Perth started strong, the ball living inside their forward half in the first term and kicking the first goal of the game through Angus Scott.
Though forward fifty entries were sparse for the Eagles, goals from Harley Sparks and Jai Culley gave West Coast the lead, before the Royals responded and took a two-point margin into the quarter time break.
While West Coast did well to restrict East Perth in the first term, cracks started to show in the second, with a five-goal to two quarter setting the Royals up for a destructive second half.
East Perth unleashed after the main break, their confidence was up, they capitalised on turnovers and coast-to-coast ball movement and kept the Eagles scoreless in the third.
Acting Eagles captain Trey Ruscoe broke the scoreboard drought and attempted to spark his teammates with the opening goal of the final quarter, before Tyrell Dewar kicked the team’s sixth and final goal from a set shot 45 metres out.
Harley Sparks was terrific for the Eagles, finishing with 29 disposals, three tackles and goal, while Harry Edwards was solid down back with a team-high six marks in what was a tough day for the West Coast defenders.
East Perth’s Darcy Craven kicked four goals in his League debut, with both Scott and Michael Randall producing 35 disposal-one goal games in a damaging display.
West Coast take on West Perth in round seven at Pentanet Stadium, bouncedown at 3pm on Saturday.
