West Coast Eagles fullback Tom Barrass will miss Sunday’s clash with Gold Coast at People First Stadium after unsuccessfully challenging his one-match suspension at the AFL Tribunal.
Barrass was cited by the Match Review Officer for rough conduct following a fourth-quarter tackle on Fremantle forward Michael Walters during Saturday night’s RAC Derby victory.
The Match Review Officer assessed the charge as careless conduct, medium impact and high contact.
Barrass entered a guilty plea but contested the impact in an attempt to have it downgraded from medium to low.
The Eagles also submitted character references, highlighted his previous history of no suspensions at AFL or WAFL level and provided evidence of his community work to the Tribunal.
After more than hour deliberating, the Tribunal upheld the medium impact finding and found no exceptional or compelling reasons for the key defender not to serve a one-match ban, ruling Barrass out of the Suns clash.
