Midfield bull Elliot Yeo claimed his second Glendinning-Allan Medal after a brilliant display against the Dockers, following on from the mantle he won in round 20, 2018.
On a night which was satisfying because of the even spread of contributors, Yeo earned best afield status with 26 possessions (16 kicks and 10 handpasses) with 11 of those contested.
He also won six clearances, gained 507 metres with ball in hand and sent it inside 50 on seven occasions. It was also Yeo who got the scoreboard rolling with a clever snap out of congestion in the early stages of the first term.
Given the number of players who performed so strongly it was a little surprising that only three players – Yeo (seven votes), young gun Harley Reid (six) and forward Jake Waterman (five) featured in the reckoning.
But Yeo, who has wound back the clock in the early phase of the season with his drive and force through the middle, has been critical to the team’s performances.
