The West Coast Eagles have accepted Samo Petrevski-Seton’s two-match rough conduct suspension, while the club confirms Reuben Ginbey will miss the remainder of the season due to hamstring surgery.
Petrevski-Seton was cited by the Match Review Officer for a tackle he applied on Carlton’s Alex Cincotta during the third quarter of Saturday’s defeat at Marvel Stadium.
The incident was assessed as careless conduct, high impact and high contact, resulting in a two-match sanction, which rules Petrevski-Seton out of upcoming clashes against North Melbourne and Essendon.
Ginbey suffered a hamstring injury during the Eagles’ round 18 match against Richmond after an awkward landing from a contest and the round three AFL Rising Star nominee will undergo minor surgery on Tuesday.
“Following investigations into the nature of Reuben’s injury the medical advice was to send him for surgery, with the aim of minimising the risk of future recurrences in that specific area of his hamstring,” General Manager Football Gavin Bell said.
“It’s a disappointing end to Reuben’s first season but he has a long career ahead of him, and everyone at the club has been impressed with his positive attitude, work ethic and eagerness to learn since we drafted him last November.”
Meanwhile, Bell confirmed the Eagles would provide an update on captain Luke Shuey’s hamstring injury following scan results.
“We are working through our process with Luke and will update our members and supporters as soon as we have gathered all the information,” Bell said.
