West Coast Eagles ruckman Mark Seaby will remain with the club after a suitable deal could not be completed through the AFL’s trade week.

Seaby, currently overseas on holiday, is contracted for next year and the club is pleased that the 97-game premiership player will remain on the senior list for at least the 2009 season.

West Coast Chief Executive Officer, Trevor Nisbett, said the club was looking forward to the Seaby-Dean Cox ruck combination continuing to flourish.

“Mark indicated to us an interest in exploring further opportunities with another club,” Mr Nisbett said. “After fielding some initial interest nothing eventuated, but both the club and Mark are pleased with the ultimate outcome.

“Mark did not have an issue with the club, he was simply searching for more ground time and will now commit wholeheartedly when pre-season training resumes with the aim of commanding further opportunities with our team.

“He is a highly respected member of our team and we are thrilled that he will remain on our playing list.”
