Reinforcements will arrive as three 2018 premiership stars return to the West Coast Eagles line-up for one of the club’s feature matches of the season – the Sir Doug Nicholls Round clash with Essendon.
Shannon Hurn, who was captain of that triumphant team, key defender Tom Barrass and powerful midfielder Elliot Yeo have all be named in the team for Saturday evening’s contest with the Bombers at Optus Stadium.
Also coming into the line-up is young midfielder Luke Edwards who, along with Barrass, missed last week’s game against Hawthorn with illness.
Hurn has missed the past couple of matches with an adductor strain while a similar injury sidelined Yeo for the last five weeks.
The inclusion of the senior players who were part of the epic Grand Final victory five years ago, will take to a handful the number of premiership stars in the line-up after Liam Duggan and Dom Sheed were the only members of that celebrated group to play the Hawks.
Unavailable through injury are tall defender Harry Edwards (groin) and swingman Jamaine Jones (ankle) while wingman Greg Clark, who was the substitute player last week, midfielder Xavier O’Neill and youngster Campbell Chesser have been omitted.
Chesser, O’Neill, Clark and Zane Trew have been named on an extended interchange bench and one of them will be used as the tactical sub.
The club will continue its policy of rotating the captaincy with Oscar Allen taking over from Duggan, who had the duties in the last two games.
