The West Coast Eagles have bolstered their AFLW football department with the addition of experienced coach Martene Pearman and tackling specialist Dylan Parsons.
Ahead of the team’s fifth season in the competition, the Eagles are thrilled Pearman has joined the program as an assistant supporting senior coach Michael Prior.
A former state women’s captain and Coastal Titans (now Subiaco) premiership captain/coach, Pearman boasts a wealth of experience in the game.
She was part of Michelle Cowan’s AFLW coaching team at Fremantle in 2017-18, and will again link up with West Coast’s Head of Women’s Football at Mineral Resources Park.
Pearman has also been involved with Subiaco’s women’s, reserves and senior WAFL teams, and led the WA state academy.
She joins fellow assistant coaches Hamish Brayhsaw, Pia Faletti and Rohan McHugh at West Coast, while current Western Force Super W assistant coach Parsons will work part-time on the Eagles players’ tackling techniques.
Dean Irving (ruck), Andrew Di Loretto (head of development) and Amanda Robertson (development) will continue in their roles, while veteran defender Evie Gooch returns to the playing ranks after working in development while recovering from a wrist injury.
“We are committed to having the best support and resources for our players and thrilled to finalise our coaching panel for the 2023 season,” Cowan said.
“Martene is incredibly passionate about AFLW and brings a wealth of coaching experienced to our team.
“Dylan is also a new addition currently working at the Western Force and he will be our new specialist tackling coach.”
The 2023 NAB AFLW season will begin on the first weekend in September, while clubs will commence their official training preparations from Monday, May 29.
