The West Coast Eagles have bolstered their emerging key position stocks after landing promising youngster Amy Franklin in a trade with Fremantle.
A lifelong Eagles fan, Franklin is capable of playing at both ends of the ground and was drafted at pick 14 in 2021.
West Coast has agreed to relinquish picks three and 21 in the upcoming draft in exchange for the talented 20-year-old.
With 12 matches and six goals to her tally early in her AFLW journey, Franklin is as an ideal fit to develop alongside West Coast’s exciting band of youngsters.
“I’ve grown up supporting West Coast and I feel like there’s amazing people there and with such a young side it looked like something I really want to be a part of and work towards a premiership, which is every girl’s dream really,” Franklin said.

“I’ve got a fair few mates who I can call my best friends at the club.
“I had a walk through the club maybe a month or two ago and met all the crew there. They’re amazing, very welcoming with open arms and they were keen for me to get into it.
“I got a good vibe off them all, so I’m excited.”
West Coast’s Head of Women’s Football Michelle Cowan was thrilled Franklin will join the next generation of Eagles striving to drive the team forward.
“Amy is a great addition to the club, her best footy is on the horizon and our coaches are really keen to work with her and continue that development,” Cowan said.
“We look forward to welcoming Amy, she is a really important piece to what we are building and a great fit for our team and club.”
Franklin was the second WA-based player selected in the 2021 draft, following recently re-signed Eagles key defender Charlie Thomas, who was taken at pick three overall.
“We are delighted to be able bring Amy into the football club, we rated her extremely highly in her draft year, so it is a wonderful outcome to finally make her a West Coast Eagle,” AFLW List Manager Jordan Loxley said.
“We believe Amy will add to the already strong core group of young players we have on our list and her ability to play both ends of the ground will complement our squad nicely.
“I would like to thank the Fremantle Football Club in the way they handled the situation, they were very good to deal with throughout the process.”
