West Coast Eagles champion Josh Kennedy has received another honour in retirement after being announced as an AFL Life Member.

The Eagles’ all-time leading goalkicker, Kennedy earned qualification for the prestigious club after notching 300 AFL games across his storied career.

The superstar forward played 293 premiership matches and 20 pre-season games after beginning his career at Carlton and famously becoming part of a blockbuster trade to West Coast involving premiership captain Chris Judd in 2007.

Kennedy went on to become an all-time great for West Coast, kicking three goals in the 2018 Grand Final triumph, claiming Coleman Medals in 2015 and ’16 and being named All-Australian on three occasions.

He was also West Coast’s leading goalkicker a record eight times, after bagging an incredible eight majors in his farewell match against Adelaide last year to secure the award in his final campaign.

Kennedy achieved West Coast Life Membership in 2016 – the same year he finished runner-up in the John Worsfold Medal – and was a Glendinning-Allan medallist three times in RAC Derby clashes.

He will be honoured by the League at the AFL Season Launch on March 9 after the AFL Commission confirmed the nominations at their meeting late last year.
