West Coast forward Ella Roberts has finished in fourth place in the Rising Star votes at the W awards in Melbourne tonight capping off a remarkable season for the 17-year-old.

Roberts tallied 15 votes just behind Hawthorn’s Jasmine Fleming who had 17 votes in third and Port Adelaide’s Abbey Dowrick with 32 votes.

Another player out of Alberton, Hannah Ewings was named Rising Star in first place with 41 votes.

Teenage sensation Roberts averaged 13.4 disposals a game and was nominated Mark of the Year in round nine.

Her aerial ability stood out across the league and made AFLW history by taking the most marks of any first-year player with 35 grabs in total.

Sarah Lakay and Charlie Thomas were also in attendance at the W awards and in the running for the Rising Star award after being nominated through the season.

Lakay was nominated in round five after a monumental performance at ruck against Fremantle were she tallied 42 hit outs.

While Thomas was nominated only two weeks later in round seven against Richmond where she had 23 disposals and seven rebound 50s.

Aisling McCarthy was also invited to the awards night after being nominated for Goal of the Year in round one after an incredible banana went through the sticks against Port Adelaide.

Captain Emma Swanson also travelled to Melbourne as a member of the All-Australian squad of 44 for the third time in her career, unfortunately she just missed out on the final team.

Bella Lewis, Courtney Rowley, Jaide Britton and former player Andrea Gilmore also joined the West Coast collection at the awards as special guests.
