Inaugural club captain Ross Glendinning and long-time West Coast staff member Tim Gepp travelled to the state’s Godfields and Central Pilbara regions to visit employees at Mineral Resources mine sites.
The visits gave the opportunity for the Eagles to connect with employees at remote sites and to promote positive mental health and well-being messages.
Ross, and Tim held a series of “Tavern Talks” sharing their footy adventures, stories, and memories from their playing and coaching days.
The tour started at Mineral Resources sites at Mount Marion, Windarling and Koolyanobbing in the Goldfields region and then moved up to the Central Pilbara region visiting Wonmunna, Iron Valley and Wodgina.
Across the six mine sites Ross and Tim were also able to share their own stories on site and connect on the importance of maintaining positive mental health.
Ross, who was a commentator for the famous West Coast Eagles 1992 premiership, while Tim was a coach with the side at the time, shared their memories from the iconic Grand Final which this year marked its 30th year anniversary.
“I think it’s a great opportunity to get on site and have a yarn. There’s some terrific people you meet and it was a lot fun, Geppy definitely had the crew in stitches a few times," Ross Glendinning said.
“Mineral Resources are great supporters of the football club and being able to meet the employees and appreciate the scale of operation on site was really interesting.”
Sean Duffy, MinRes Principal - Health & Wellbeing, said the tour is extremely popular and helps enhance social connection.
“It was great to see so many people at these events. The crew really enjoyed having the opportunity to ask Ross and Tim all their footy related questions.”
“We look forward to exploring new initiatives to enhance the health and well-being of our people on site through our partnership with the Eagles.”
Mineral Resources has a strong partnership with the West Coast Eagles and are naming rights partner of the club's Lathlain based headquarters, Mineral Resources Park.
