Halls Creek local Krstel Petrevski will return to the West Coast Eagles line-up for Saturday’s clash against Geelong at Ikon Park as the competition celebrates Pride Round.
The winger’s inclusion comes after midfielder Ella Smith was ruled out due to a foot injury ahead of the side travelling to Melbourne for the away clash, and represents the only change made to the team after last Friday’s match against Richmond.
Smith’s injury comes after two consistent performances for the Eagles having debuted for the side in round six against Hawthorn.
Saturday’s clash will be Petrevski’s first appearance for West Coast since round three and will be her eighth match in AFLW, following three seasons at Melbourne before moving west ahead of season seven in the competition.
The single change provides some stability in senior coach Michael Prior’s line-up as the side looks to continue developing a growing team which has been younger than their opposition in every match this year.
Imahra Cameron, Emily Bennett and Ashleigh Gomes have all been named as emergencies for the clash, with Gomes travelling for the first time with the side since being picked up from East Fremantle as an injury replacement.
The West Coast Eagles will again run out wearing their Pride guernsey for the second time this season after being unveiled last week in front of home fans at Mineral Resources Park.
The design incorporates some key elements including the colours of the progress pride flag shadowing the Eagles head and features dates and inspiring quotes from past and current players and staff which feature on the back of the guernsey.
Ikon Park will host three matches this weekend as a part of the AFLW’s Pride festival with Carlton playing Richmond tonight, followed by a double-header on Saturday which includes Sydney taking on Essendon before West Coast’s game against Geelong at 5:40pm AEDT. (2:40pm AWST)
