Half-back hard nut Harry Creasey was tonight awarded the WAFL Eagles fairest and best player at a presentation ceremony at Mineral Resources Park.
Creasey had an outstanding season to win the major award ahead of Patrick Naish who was a supplementary selection period recruit, joining the club on the eve of the season.
In joining the WAFL Eagles squad, Creasey was reunited with coach Robert Wiley. They forged a relationship when Wiley was coaching at East Fremantle and the courageous Creasey was part of the Sharks squad.
When Wiley was appointed as WAFL Eagles coach and charged with the responsibility of pulling together a list that could be competitive, Creasey was at the top of his recruiting list. He had been playing back in his home town Bunbury for a couple of years and accepted the opportunity for another crack at senior WAFL football.
That decision was vindicated with tonight’s award.
Other key awards announced were players trademark (Greg Clark), coaches award (Jalen McGee) and best clubman (Chris Paunich).
