Started the season on the sidelines and missed a month of football mid-year due to a hamstring injury but found continuity and consistency on the run home to finish top 10 in the Club Champion award for a third time.

Ryan kicked three goals in a game twice in heavy losses to Sydney and Brisbane, but it was his all-around game that would have pleased coaches most in the back half of the campaign.

The high-flying forward averaged 14.3 disposals, 5.3 marks, 3.7 tackles and 3.5 inside 50s in the final six rounds in a strong finish.

Only turning 26 in October, the supremely-talented 2020 All-Australian has plenty of good football ahead of him.

Standout performance: Flying high against the Suns

The free-flowing contest against Gold Coast in round 20 suited Ryan, who was among the Eagles’ best in an agonising 107-104 defeat at Metricon Stadium.

The speedy forward was in everything, picking up 16 touches, taking eight marks, sending the ball inside 50 six times and laying four tackles.

Ryan also booted two goals and ignited West Coast’s fourth-quarter fightback from 25 points down at the last change when he launched himself for an eye-catching chest mark on the goalline – and duly converted – to start the final term.
