In a midfield where change was the only constant throughout the season, Redden was an invaluable contributor who helped hold the engine room together across 21 appearances.

The veteran was typically consistent, notching at least 20 disposals in all-but five games and the ex-Lion was particularly impressive returning to Queensland to face his former side Brisbane in round eight (29 disposals) and Gold Coast (23, two goals) in round 20.

Finished sixth in the John Worsfold Medal count, after a fourth-placed result in 2021, and continued to play selfless, team-first football in blue and gold.

Redden, 31, ended the season averaging 21.7 disposals and 5.2 tackles per game, and has now played more games for West Coast (134) since his trade at the end of 2015 than Brisbane (129) after seven campaigns for both clubs.

Standout performance: Getting hot against the Suns

In midfield colleague Andrew Gaff’s milestone 250th game, Redden did all he could to get the Eagles over the line in a nailbiting three-point loss to Gold Coast.

In a frantic final quarter Redden soccered through his second goal from a mad scramble in the goalsquare to bring the Eagles within three points.

Ultimately, West Coast couldn’t get over the line for a third win for the season, but Redden could hold his head high after also finishing with 23 disposals and five tackles.
