On a day when his close mate Andrew Gaff celebrated his 250th game, Jack Darling produced one of the best performances of the season when he kicked six goals against the Suns.
Secured in the same draft as Gaff (2010), they have both been extremely resilient with their games tallies running virtually in unison – until Gaff missed a handful of games this year with an ankle injury.
Darling got to the 250 mark four weeks earlier against Richmond and both now sit in the top of the all-time list of players who have represented the club.
Against the Suns, Darling was a threatening presence throughout and kept the Eagles in touch with his accuracy, allowing for the late surge that almost saw the Eagles snatch the game.
He took eight marks, five of them inside the forward 50 and kicked 6.0. In conjunction with Jack Petruccelle he ignited the Eagles fightback in the third term, the ‘Jacks’ kicking a couple of goals each to apply some scoreboard heat.
