West Coast has recruited developing tall Eleanor Hartill as an Inactive Replacement Player for injured draftee Lauren Wakfer for the upcoming AFLW season.
The Eagles drafted Wakfer with their second selection in last week’s player ballot, aware the underage All-Australian ruck would miss the coming season after recently rupturing her ACL.
Hailing from a basketball background, Hartill has shown promising signs in her first season playing football for Perth Football League club Collegians this year.
The 22-year-old, who stands 185cm tall, could develop into a ruck or key defender and completes the Eagles’ list heading into the team’s fourth season in the AFLW competition.
“Eleanor is a developing tall from a basketball background with good athleticism and she can mark the ball well overhead,” West Coast AFLW coach Michael Prior said.
“She loves to compete and is super keen to do extras and fast-track her development.
“We look forward to welcoming Eleanor down to begin training with the group on Wednesday.”
