A Western Derby of another kind will kick off at Domain Stadium from 3pm today.
The West Coast Eagles and Fremantle Dockers’ Next Generation Academies will go to war in a curtain raiser clash ahead of tonight's 45th Carlton Draught Derby.
The last time the two academies faced off West Coast’s senior team reigned supreme over Fremantle, but the Dockers' junior squad toppled the Eagles’ young prodigies at ATOM Stadium on December 9, .
The Eagles’ under 15/16 team was a class above the Dockers and recorded a convincing 15.11 (101) to 1.3 (9) victory, while Fremantle’s under 13/14 side defeated West Coast’s fledglings 12.6 (78) to 6.3 (39).
Players featuring in today’s curtain raiser will hail from various nations, including Sudan, Papua New Guinea, Trinidad, India, Chile and Myanmar.
