'Put me anywhere' - Main
New recruit Dylan Main says he has the ability to play anywhere for his new team
Having supported Richmond as a youngster, Main was quickly realigned once his name was read out by West Coast Eagles National Recruiting Manager Rohan O’Brien last Thursday night.
“I actually went for Richmond because of Dad, but Eagles now,” Main joked.
“They said as long as I wasn’t Freo.”
Main was taken with pick 49 in the national draft, and was given a tour of the club on Friday, along with his fellow draftee Tom Barrass.
Main says it was an amazing experience to walk into the club like West Coast as a player.
“It hasn’t really sunk in yet,” he said.
“Meeting all the boys up there, it’s slowly getting to me, but it hasn’t sunk in yet.
“We just got introduced to them in a team meeting, they were all up there asking for a speech.
“It was good to meet them all.”
He still had to pinch himself that these players he once idolised were now his team mates.
“I think that’s what the surrealness from, you’ve been watching them on TV, and now you have a chance to be playing with them,” said Main.
“It’s really good, a good opportunity.”
Main, a 191cm utility, said he’s happy to play anywhere given to opportunity.
“I feel like I can play any position whether it’s half-forward, half-back, midfield,” he said.
“Obviously with my height I’m pretty good overhead, and my skills are good.”
