Captain Emma Swanson exudes composure in the toughest of situations, and led the team valiantly in a 23-point loss to Richmond at Mineral Resources Park.
Despite coming into the half-time break 27 points down, the skipper never stopped fighting to finish with 22 disposals, five marks and seven tackles.
Swanson is now also West Coast’s second-highest goal scorer – behind Aimee Schmidt – after adding another string to her bow in the round seven clash and finishing the game with two goals.
The performance has earned Swanson her second ‘best Eagle afield’ title for the year, as she comes to the tail end of her 2022 campaign.
The onballer has strung together a series of successful showings this season – with Richmond being her best for the year – and is well on track to having her best season in the AFLW competition, averaging 21.7 disposals, 4.7 clearances and 5.3 tackles per game.
Swanson also sits in the AFLW top 10 for average disposals, contested possessions, clearances and inside 50s, across her six matches played for the season.
