The West Coast Eagles have announced Sarah Lakay will make her debut against Adelaide after impressing at training since she was drafted last year.
The 18-year-old was West Coast’s fourth draft pick and is a former basketballer who boasts a strong overhead mark and natural athleticism.
Lakay will start in the ruck, with Parris Laurie shifted to the forward-line alongside Hayley Bullas who will play her first match of the year.
Meanwhile, defender Ashton Hill will play her first game in 713 days, after tearing her ACL during West Coast’s marquee match against Collingwood in 2020.
Hill will spend time in West Coast's backline alongside key defender Sophie McDonald, who returns to the side for her first game of the season.
Forward Ashlee Atkins has entered the AFL’s Health and Safety protocols and will be unavailable for selection.
