Sunday’s clash against St Kilda was not only a success on the field, but off the field as well, with West Coast members and fans helping to raise more than $114,000 for the David Wirrpanda Foundation.
Proudly supported by BHP Billiton, Sunday’s Indigenous Round match showcased the invaluable work of the David Wirrpanda Foundation in supporting WA’s indigenous youth.
Limited edition David Wirrpanda Foundation scarves were exclusively available around the ground before the match and from the Team Store, with all proceeds going straight to the foundation. Volunteer tin-shakers were also positioned around the ground taking donations.
Proving just how generous they are, West Coast supporters snapped up the foundation scarves and filled the BHP donation tins to their brim, helping to raise a record-breaking amount for the David Wirrpanda Foundation.
Furthermore, BHP Billiton generously offered to double the amount raised by their volunteers on the day as part of their Matched Giving program.
“I can’t believe how much we raised in one day,” said club legend Wirrpanda.
“I’d like to thank each and every fan who purchased a scarf or made a donation. I am blown away by your generosity, which is helping us improve the life outcomes of Aboriginal children.”
Once again, West Coast supporters, together with the club’s principal community partner BHP Billiton, have proven their incredible generosity and have made an invaluable contribution towards the success of Indigenous Round.
