Last season will be one that Hewett will want to quickly move on from after his entire campaign was wiped out by foot problems. Having played through soreness in recent years, the dynamic young midfielder was diagnosed with sesamoiditis which eventually required surgery, and his comeback bid was over in July when he developed some further minor bone stress. It was a disappointing result for Hewett and Eagles fans, who had warmed to the electric playmaker’s bold style in his debut season when he showed signs of his prodigious talent in 14 games and earned a Rising Star nomination. Hewett’s ability to break from congestion with power and speed is a point of difference suited to the modern game and a bright future is taking shape for the popular and effervescent Swan Districts product.
