Redden’s sixth season in the west ranked among his best, as evidenced by a fourth-placed finish in the Club Champion award despite missing four matches due to injury. While there was a revolving door for many of the Eagles’ front-line midfielders last year, Redden was a constant contributor until he suffered a minor fracture below his knee in round 16 against Sydney. Despite willingly sacrificing his midfield time when some other stars returned, the 30-year-old never dipped below 20 disposals in a completed game. He notched his 100th game as an Eagle in round five against Collingwood, which coincided with his career-high 37-disposal tally in a 27-point victory. Runner-up in the 2018 John Worsfold Medal count, Redden’s grunt and team-first attitude remains important for the star-studded Eagles’ engine room.
