Versatile West Coast Eagles big man Fraser McInnes was crowned East Perth Football Club’s joint FD Book medallist alongside teammates Julian Ameduri and Nathan Blee last night.

The terrific trio could not be separated at the end of the best and fairest count, each polling 29 votes.

It was the first time since 2000 that East Perth’s club champion award concluded in a three-way tie.

McInnes and West Coast defender Eric Mackenzie led the race for the Royals’ top honour after seven rounds with 12 votes each, but former Eagles-listed midfielder Will Maginness claimed the lead midway through proceedings, edging West Coast utility Tom Lamb by two votes through 15 rounds.

McInnes held a narrow one-vote lead over Maginness and Lamb with three rounds to go, but Ameduri and Lee surged home in the remaining fixtures to equal the ruck-forward in round 23.

The trio finished two votes ahead of East Perth co-captain Patrick McGinnity and Maginness – who shared the league side’s Outstanding Play Award – and three votes in front of Lamb.

West Coast rookie Tom Gorter and second-year Eagle Kurt Mutimer amassed 23 votes, while midfielder Luke Partington and defender Francis Watson collected 22 votes.

Lamb claimed East Perth’s leading goal-kicker crown for his 21-major season.
