Without question, Jamie Cripps is putting together his best AFL season.
He is averaging the most disposals, goals and inside-50s of his career, and has laid more tackles inside 50 than any other player in the competition.
It is this combination of intense forward pressure and goal-kicking that is making his season so good.
Cripps says he’s just happy to play his role in the team, and that everyone’s team-first attitude is the reason behind the successful start to 2015.
“Everyone is doing their job,” he said.
“We’re a really united group, and when everyone plays together we’re hard to beat.
“I’ve been happy with how things are going so far, but there’s always room for improvement.
“We’re a young side, a developing side, and we feel like we’re building toward something at the moment.
“So it’s a really exciting time to be at the Eagles.”
The 23-year-old, who is nursing a minor quad injury sustained against the Tigers last Friday night, says his bye period is now about getting his body right.
“I was planning to go down south, but I stayed up here in Perth just to do everything I can to get right,” he said.
“I might go down to the beach a bit and keep moving, but I have taken things pretty easy.
“The bye is a good chance to just reset the batteries and relaunch into the second half of the season.
“I already can’t wait to attack the second half of the year and I’m sure the rest of the boys will say the same.”
