Eagles and Falcons spread harmony in Joondalup
West Coast and West Perth teamed up to promote Harmony Day and Bullying, No Way! at Lakeside Joondalup on Thursday
Dedicated promotions, prizes and giveaways were provided to educate families about Harmony Day, promoting cultural respect for everyone who calls Australia home. The Bullying, No Way! message was also reinforced through giveaways and information for school-aged children.
A pop-up footy centre outside Coles drew the crowds in to test their footy skills on the inflatable kicking cube and handball target.
But the true stars were club mascots Rick the Rock Eagle and Freddy the Falcon, who entertained shoppers throughout the centre, stopping only for high-fives, hugs and plenty of photos! JB Hi-Fi even got in on the action, with its pumping music system inspiring an epic dance-off between Rick and Freddy. They caused such a commotion that the mascot from Hog’s Breath Café hurried over to see what all the fuss was about.
WIN FANTASTIC PRIZES
Thursday night was an important platform for the developing partnership between West Coast and West Perth, which aims to promote social cohesion in a multi-cultural community, and attract new fans to the game by educating migrants about Australian football.
In recognition of this growing relationship, the clubs have launched a special “Everyone Belongs” iPad competition which will run until April 19, 2014.
Come down to the new Fan Zone at Gates 10 and 12 of Patersons Stadium on Sunday before bouncedown and test your cultural knowledge on one of the iPads for your chance to WIN one of two fantastic prizes:
